ABOUT ME:

For as long as i can remember i have held a fascination with television. It was at the age of 8 i decided i wanted to be a camera operator. I'd never been in a tv studio before and used to annoy my teachers always drawing cameras and things all over my schoolwork! Our local tv station at the time often had their cameras posed with their logos on them. I badly wanted to get into the station and operate them...it was my dream.
When i left school, the station had long since become nothing more than a networked relay station. When I finally got there I was dissapointed to find the once famous cameras and any signs of the older equipment were all long disposed of. ... I was shattered!.
Over the years i worked in the industry in various roles and at the same time continued my interest in the development of broadcast technologys. I began picking up equipment here and there that was otherwise destined for the tip, and before i knew it i had "caught the bug" and was collecting whatever i could here and there and developing a collection. The internet has been an important tool which has made getting in touch with other collectors worldwide possible.
People often wonder why i have such a strong interest in something that was, well pretty much before my time, I dont know, sometimes i jokingly wonder if i was some tv pioneer in a past life!?
Today I own and operate The Australian Television Archive, providing archival videotape & film transfer and restoration services. www.austvarchive.com
